Well another week as come and gone in the world of college football and yet another week were a top five team goes down. Penn State, 9-0 and poised to be in position to potentially compete for a national title, the easiest remaining schedule of the remaining undefeated teams, it looked like smooth sailing for the Nittany Lions. It was thought it was only a question as to who would lose first... Alabama or Texas Tech thus potentially allowing an undefeated Penn State to slide into one of the top two spots in the BCS rankings and hence a trip to the BCS championship in the Orange Bowl. There was one sticking point to this line of thinking however... someone forgot to tell Iowa what the plan was. Iowa upset then #3 Penn State last week in heartbreaking fashon by way of a last second field goal. Texas Tech won again... so did Alabama.
Not all is lost for Penn State fans as if they win their next two games they go to the Rose bowl. Not a bad prize, unless they wind up playing Oregon State again but that is a story for another day. Enough though about the BCS... the opinion polls... let's get to the facts and the hard numbers. Without further ado here is the 4th edition of the AbsolutePigskin.com computer rankings.
