Much has been made of Penn State wide receiver Derrick Williams time, or lack thereof, in the 40-yard dash today at the NFL combine. However AbsolutePigskin.com has learned that Williams, who was expected to run in the neighborhood of 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash, had the flu which could be a big reason for Williams' less than impressive performance running (4.58 seconds in the 40-yard dash) as well as less than stellar showings in positional drills. Former Penn State wide receiver and the agent for Williams, Chafie Fields, indicated that he had advised his client not to participate in today's drills. According to NFL.com, "He’s just that much of a competitor and wanted to take advantage of the
stage, even though he hasn’t worked out in almost two weeks,” a
disappointed Fields said. “He can run a lot faster, and will run a lot
faster.”
