Penn State linebacker Navarro Bowman, an All Big Ten Potential linebacker for this upcoming football season, is due in court again tomorrow. Bowman is currently on probation for a disorderly conduct charge stemming from an on campus fight that occurred at the Penn State student union building (HUB) in October of 2007. Bowman was sentenced to a fine and 100 hours of community service as punishment for that conviction. Sources close to the situation indicate that his probation is in jeopardy since Bowman has not completed any of the required 100 hours of community service and has smoked pot on two separate occasions during his probation all of this in violation of his probation. Unfortunately for Penn State this is just another in a recent string of players running into legal problems off the field at Penn State. Bowman led Penn State in 2008 with 106 tackles.
One can not help but think this is the result of the lack of any real consequences for any of the recent Penn State players who have gotten in trouble with the law, many of which were suspended for summer sessions only while still being able to participate in team activities.
